I worked through last Christmas. I was probably the only Real Estate Agent doing open homes on Christmas Eve. I had 8 groups through my evening Christmas Eve open … and I sold the property before the New Year! The biggest problem with property sales at that time of the year is finding a Conveyancing Solicitor who is not on holidays! I wondered why I didn’t hear anything back from their end! Hello? Is anyone out there?
So I have worked for 2 years straight now, with very little time out. A day here and there. But really, when you run your own business, you never really have a day to yourself, as your business and your clients are always front of mind … and I do answer my phone, whenever I can. You never know. It could be THE buyer!
So this year, I am pushing through the guilt and taking a month off.
My big boy will have finished his formal schooling and it’s time to celebrate all our hard work … and have some adventures together.
And I am spent. I need a break.
I need to sit and look at a beautiful view and get all creative again. I need to savour my children. We have been like ships in the night these past 2 years, with my eldest immersed in the IB, my youngest always at gymnastics training and their Mum always in someone elses’ home! My boys are very good at creating meals from the pantry!
I have one more property to list for sale in mid November. It’s a darling cottage in Seven Hills and as it is my last for the year, my sellers are getting the best of my inventory! I am going to enjoy putting together the ‘Cape Cod Residential Finale’!
I worked all yesterday securing a contract for one of my properties … so with 3 homes now to sell before the end of the year, I will soon be able to turn my thoughts to our holiday.
But not yet. There is still work to be done! As I keep saying to my big son, who is still in the thick of exams, “finish hard”.
I’m in the home straight.
