A Hamptons Deck

z1

So through the beautiful Great Room windows, featured yesterday, was this magnificent deck.

z13

A unifying blue and white coastal theme, and outdoor rattan furniture, tied three outdoor living/dining areas together.

Don’t rugs make all the difference in delineating each living zone?

z4

And using the same rug ties it all together too.

Look at those eaves. Deep sigh.

Don’t think those shingles and the joinery went un-noticed! I practically hugged them I got up so close. The joinery was wooden on the interior and powder coated aluminium on the exterior.

z17

Hugging/stroking distance.

I had an in depth chat with one of the lovely hostesses about the shingles.

They get better with age and last for ages.

z6

Severely weather proof and not timber … so no built in senescence.

Love low decks. “The front porch on my next house is going to be exactly this high”, she decided, standing right there.

And this was the back elevation!

I know!

This might seem a silly question but is the furniture waterproof or is there a mad dash to haul it inside when the skies open?

It was all outdoor rated. After all it was a Designer Showhouse. The best of everything. I don’t think you’d need to do the storm run! You are so practical pet. Love it! xx

I LOVE a good deck and that I adore that gorgeous striped blue and white! I’d kill for those windows too, but only if I had a cleaner :P

Yes, a cleaner would be necessary in a house that size! A-M xx

This deck is ridiculous. So gorgeous. I love the connectivity with the back yard – something so lacking in Queenslander homes. Hamptons perfection.

Good word! Ridiculous. It’s just perfection all ’round. xx

  4. Wow again….

I love how the raining look amazing, despite being aluminium-the windows too. I would have thought it wouldn’t have looked ‘right’. I also on the cusp of painting our railings and dreading it-so the aluminium is quite appealing at the moment!!!
