I found this slipped into my ‘to mail’ pile last night… with stamps and everything. I hadn’t broached the subject of Santa this year as we’re ‘getting close’, being 10 years old and all, and I honestly thought that some little darling at school would have ruined it for him this year. Every year I hold my breath and hope to get one more year out of him.
I cherish the last of his innocence. Cherish it. It’s so delicious.
Is Santa still doing the rounds at your place? He’s hopefully going to be tramping through snow to get to us this year!
A-M xx

He’s still here at our house too, but I think we’re getting close with Cruise too! I’m pretty sure he has an inkling, but is too scared to say anything in case I tell him he won’t receive if he doesn’t believe! I love the note. XXXXX

Oh he’s a good boy. He’s got a big secret to keep, if he does know! xx
I am so on the same page with you here. I found out at 7. My atheist teacher told me. How mean and you always believe your teacher at the age because they know everything right!!!!. But I guess it was the 70′s. My 10 year old is still a believer and I turn myself in knots trying to keep it that way.
Your son seems like an incredibly well mannered, thoughtful delight. So congratulations of bringing up another wonderful Australian.

Thank you DE. How devastating for you but how lovely that your little 10 yr old is still a keeper of the faith. xx
Oh my goodness, that is so precious. He is so polite too! You have brought him up so well A-M!
Hmmm, you just hope that they are polite when you’re not around! xx
precious!! keep that note safely filed away!

Already filed…. I mean posted to Santa!
That is so precious. I have a daughter going on ten. I get the feeling she knows what the real deal is but, wants to keep pretending because it is more fun.
Thanks for sharing that sweet letter.
Oh she’s smart! I remember when my big son put it all together and asked us for the truth, he sobbed. Oh it breaks my heart just remembering that day. He was 11. xx
Oh I love that – as long as they can believe in Santa (at least slightly) I´m happy. Lovely letter he wrote!

Oh I know! Clinging to the innocence of childhood! xx
Your son is too cute for words.
We will be doing our first Santa photos this year. It will be interesting to see how Miss G fares… $50 bucks says she’ll howl.

Oh but it will still be cute! Some of our best Santa photos are howling baby photos! xx
I so hope Santa brings him that iPod4 with a lovely case!
I know the feeling of trying to keep the magic alive for as long as possible, my oldest at 10 is conflicted – he so wants to believe but is being told otherwise from friends at school.
oh it’s so sad, isn’t it.. the peer pressure? I managed to fudge it through the peer pressure with my eldest by saying that because they don’t believe, he IS NOT real to them. The ‘Polar Express’ movie with Tom Hanks really helped him to hold on for just that little bit longer. xx
So pure and innocent …. Your boy is adorable A-M
may all his wishes come true!

I so hope they do too! PS your post yesterday had me thinking all day. inspired. xx
What a lovely letter from your little guy! My daughter is 7 and she still believes in Santa, the Easter Bunny and her favourite, the Tooth Fairy because she is certain, absolutely certain she saw the sparkle of her wings one night <3 I hope you get a few more years of Santa magic, it's so wonderful.

Oh she saw the sparkle of her wings? Bless her! xx
My kids (8, 6 & 4) still believe in everything like that. It is magical (not to mention great bribery!). It’s funny though A-M, it hadn’t occurred to me that I’ll have to actually tell them one day – I’ll need to prepare for that! Oh the devastation

It is rather devastating. My eldest’s wasn’t a progression to the truth, it hit him between the eyes and he was devastated. Even at the time I remember he alluded to mourning his childhood. He was so aware of what it all meant wrt growing up. He still can’t watch the ‘Polar Express’ without shedding a tear. xx
He is such a sweetheart! What a great letter! Hope he gets what he wants!

My daughter is 10 also and still believes. I thought last year may have been our last. Last year and again this year I have been warned by some parents of her friends that the kids are discussing it at school and those that believe are being teased.:(
I am dreading the day she doesn’t believe.
I hope Santa can fit an ipod 4 into his backpack when travelling through Europe. That note was gorgeous.
You will have the best trip. We went away last year for Christmas. My parents came as a surprise for my daughter. So we still had a family Christmas without all the hassle !
We’ve decided to go away travelling again this year. We asked our daughter if she would like to stay home and have Christmas with her cousins or travel – It wasn’t a hard choice for her LOL Now we are just having trouble convincing her the Grandparents aren’t going to make an appearance again.:(
Can’t wait to hear all about the trip but understand the need for scant details due to the troll. Enjoy the planning, it’s half the fun isn’t it
Oh isn’t it wonderful that your daughter chose travel. I am hoping that this trip will create a travel bug in my boys that will be never ending. I said to my boys, if they work hard, the world will be their oyster with their working life. My big boy has visions of a medical degree somewhere not in Australia. I might be moving overseas in a few years if that’s the case!I’ll follow him! xx
So sweet. Our boys are ten and too grown up. ( Finding out about girls too!) Last year was a stretch in the belief area. But the iPod wish is the same!

Good to know we are ‘on trend’ with the iPod! Yep, the girl thing has just started here for little one. Big one has about 15 Japanese ones on the go and I can’t spy, as all their skype conversations are in Japanese! xx
My 11 year old boy is not sure about Santa but still thinks the tooth fairy is real. I overheard him discussing with his older sister whether the fairies would make it through when the weather was really bad. Thankfully big sister is happy to promote the belief.
Oh that is priceless! Don’t you just want to bottle those little moments? xx
Bless his beautiful heart!
What an absolute darling boy! And a credit to your parenting A-M! The Polar Express movie plays all year here (Thankyou trains) and my Big Pair discerned the truth about Santa last year at 4 and 6! But they are troopers in carrying on the tradition for the two little ones. Oh and the Polar Express viewing has increased with Christmas around the corner!

My daughter is 25 and we still play along with the Father Christmas thing. We have discovered that if neither of us broaches the truth and both of us are willing to believe then Father Christmas exists to the point where some of her presents under the tree are from Father Christmas ridiculous I know but guess who has the best Christmas in its truest sense yep we do its not just about a day off work bbqs and presents we make ours magical.
That is just the sweetest thing. You should frame it.

Oh my gosh that is the cutest thing ever. So sweet. My two kids are 3 and 6 so I hope they keep believing for a long while yet

My 7yr old was on the verge of ‘not believing’ last year, so we all sat down a month before xmas and watched Polar Express. On christmas day, the very last present at the bottom of his stocking was a cute little box with a jingle bell in it and the word ‘BELIEVE’ engraved on the top. The photo of his face as he opened it is my all time favourite. He is a firm believer now.
My eight year old son told me the other day that he wants a $700 scooter for Christmas but “it’s OK Mum, you don’t have to buy it, I’m going to ask Santa to get it for me”. I’m afraid he is going to be very unhappy with Santa this year!
Oh dear! Tricky when its an expensive request! Good luck!
